Presbytery Of Houston Statement

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

I continue to give thanks for all those around the world who are praying for the Houston, Texas area and for all those affected by Hurricane Harvey. It is of great comfort to us to know that we are connected to and supported by the larger Body of Christ.

As we move into the next days, many are beginning to ask how to help. The city is a mess, there is more to come, and there are advisories against venturing out onto the roads. Managing water levels in dams and levees is an unfolding issue. Flooding will continue to worsen in some areas. The Presbytery expects to be hit hard with calls for help.

Right now, we ask you to donate to the Hurricane Harvey Fund.  Please do not attempt to come personally as we do not wish for anyone to put their safety at risk.

We wish to thank Bishop Hill the USA Synod President, Bishop Winslow of the San Francisco Presbytery, and Bishop Rea of the Japan Presbytery for all their help.

In Christ,
Thomas Doyle
Bishop Presbytery of Houston
